Annual bilateral trade between UAE and Turkey exceeds $20 billion. The CEPA signed in 2023 targets $40 billion in bilateral trade by 2030. UAE is among Turkey's top sources of foreign direct investment.
The agreement covers goods, services and investment with immediate tariff elimination on many product categories and phased reductions on others. UAE businesses can benefit from significantly reduced import duties for qualifying goods.
Ambarlı Port Complex on Istanbul's European shore is Turkey's largest container port handling approximately 4 million TEUs annually. It is the primary destination for UAE sea freight to Istanbul and Western Turkey.
Mersin International Port is the second largest container port serving Central Anatolia and Eastern Turkey. Istanbul and Mersin have direct weekly container services from Jebel Ali operated by major shipping lines.
Turkey uses the BİLGE electronic customs declaration system. Import declarations must include the 12-digit Turkish tariff code GTİP, customs value in USD, country of origin and importer details.
Turkey's customs tariff GTİP is largely aligned with the EU Combined Nomenclature. UAE-origin goods can now access CEPA preferential rates with the appropriate Certificate of Origin from a UAE chamber of commerce.
